Two titles still in reach for BWT Lechner Racing at Monza final

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and BWT Lechner Racing are going into the great final of the 2024 season – and the setting could not be any better for the eighth and last race of the year: The historic and traditional 5.793 km long high-speed Monza track in the Royal Park with its famous corners like Lesmo, Variante Ascari or Parabolica – even if the latter has been officially renamed to “Curva Alboreto” - always provides very close and action-packed racing.

BWT Lechner Racing has very good memories of Monza, as both in 2022 and 2023 one of the team´s drivers secured the championship: In 2022 it was Dylan Pereira from Luxembourg, last year Bastian Buus from Denmark, who both crowned their season with the overall title.

Although it will be more difficult to come out on the very top this year after facing very strong competition, two titles are nevertheless still in reach. Harry King after a very strong season, comes to Italy 20 points behind the current leader in the overall championship and needs a win to keep his chances up. Robert de Haan is trailing his main rival in the rookie classification by six points, but the 18-year young Dutchman showed good form in the last races – so everything is possible.

Robert Lechner, BWT Lechner Racing Team Principal: “For the third year in a row we come to Monza with the chance to win the title, which makes me very grateful and proud of the whole team. I have very good memories of 2022 and 2023 when we managed to do so. Now we will go into the last race of the season fully focused and motivated and attack with all tree pink cars. Even if the situation is more difficult this time regarding the points both in the overall and the rookie championship, we will give it all until the final corner, and then we will see what will happen...”

Harry King: “For sure we will go all in at this final weekend. Last year I was on pole position in Monza and also won the race – so I definitely want to end the season on a high again.”

Robert de Haan: “We will definitely go for the rookie championship and a podium again. It is the last round of the Porsche Supercup 2024, we had good speed in testing, I am fully ready – and really looking forward to the weekend.”

Theo Oeverhaus: “I had quite a good test here, so I am looking forward to the season final in Monza.”
